  • Barbara Drossel

    Barbara is the leader of the Darmstadt group and a theoretical physicist. Her research field is the theory of complex systems, in particular biological networks. In the research unit, she studies dynamical stability and evolutionary dynamics of spatially extended food web models.

  • Bernd Blasius

    Bernd is the leader of the Oldenburg team. He is a physicist, working in the fields of theoretical ecology and complex systems. In the research unit, he develops mathematical models to analyse the structure and dynamics of spatial food webs.

  • Daniel Bearup

    Daniel is a post-doc in Bernd Blasius' group. He is a mathematician working in the field of theoretical ecology. In the research group he is developing measures for the analysis of spatially distributed food webs.
  • Christian Guill

    Christian is currently a "Habilitand" in Potsdam after having done Postdocs in Göttingen and Amsterdam. He is a PI in the research unit. He is a physicist working in theoretical ecology. One of his main interests is the influence of stage-structured populations on food-web dynamics.
  • Michaela Hamm

    Michaela is a PhD student (and former master student) in the Darmstadt team. She is working on the impact of resource heterogeneity on robustness in large food webs.
  • Tatjana Thiel

    Tatjana is a PhD student (and former master student) in the Darmstadt team. Her work is focused on the impact of stochastic migration on robustness in large food webs.
  • Markus Stark

    Markus is a master student from Potsdam. He is working on the dynamics of foodwebs within a spatially variable network structure.
  • Johanna Häußler

    Johanna is a PhD student at the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) Halle-Jena-Leipzig and ecologist by training. She works on how spatial networks organize themselves on spatial grids in dependence of local foodweb structures and environmental heterogeneity.

  • Björn Rall

    Björn is Postdoc and "Habilitand" at the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) Halle-Jena-Leipzig and ecologist by training. His research field is quantitative species interactions and the impact of global change on stability of food webs and co-existence of species. He is PI in the FOR 1748 and works together with Johanna Häußler and Yuanheng Li on how species interactions are influenced by space and how this leads to different structures of spatial food webs.

    Kai is a PhD student in Bernd Blasius' group in Oldenburg. He is a trained theoretical physicist now working on mathematical models describing the propagation of interacting species on large spatial networks.

  • Lars Rudolf

    Lars is an ecologist turned physicist. He has been working on the dynamics of food webs for many years. In the research unit he investigated the stability of meta food webs using generalized models.Since October 2015 he has a job at TU Dresden.
  • Korinna T. Allhoff

    Korinna is a former Ph.D. student in the Darmstadt team. She is working on evolutionary food web models in fragmented landscapes. From Mai 2015-2017, she was a postdoc in Paris. Now she is located at university of Tübingen as an assistnat professor in plant ecology.

    Sebastian was a Ph.D. student in the Darmstadt group. He was working on generalized modelling of metacommunities. In the meantime, he has a job in industry.
  • Florian Schwarzmüller

    He was a PhD student in Göttingen/Leipzig team. His work focussed on the dynamic of trophic interaction networks on explicit patches using empirically grounded models. He is also interested in testing the generated hypotheses in lab-experiments. After his PhD, he got a Postdoc position in Australia.
